I was woken up early in the morning by the sounds of my nephew crying. He was not crying because he was hungry, or because he was sleepy, but the cry was because he was trying hard to turn onto his tummy. He had done it once before when he was less than a week old, quite by accident. Now he just had to do it. Each failed attempt was followed by a cry and then he would start again. It was really not fun to watch because there is nothing you can do to help him.
Dad says that every kid be he rich or poor has to do this one thing for himself and till he/she does it, he will not give up.
Striving for what we want is what we are. We may take the odd break and fret or cry over what we cannot acheive but we have to try. The moment we give up is the moment we lose the reason for our existence. The Gita says ' Do what you are meant to do (Karm) irrespective of the fruits (phal). Too many times have too many of us given up too easily because we have not got the adequate support. Too many times our ego prevents us from doing that extra bit, too many times we stop ourselves from planning something because it is beyond our scope. And too many times do we put off things because we think it is not important enough or significant enough or that we will not be able to convince others about it.
At that point of time remember that you never gave up when you made that first turn, the first step, the first time you ran, the first words you comprehended and spoke. It is not in you to give up, it is not in you to give in. It is human to believe, to support your beliefs and to strive till you achieve them.
