I am right now in Kullu in the middle of paradise, celebrating what is my twenty sixth birthday. Today is a must win world cup match for India vs Sri Lanka. By a strange coincidence it was 4 years back to this date that India played the Aussies in the last wc final. Then I had one huge party n loads of friends cheerin India, lets hope we do better this time. Wat say??
Anyway Having nothin better to do besides thanking friends sweet enough to wish me, I decided that after all these years of writing poems for birthdays, marriages, etc etc, I'll write a poem for my own twenty sixth birthday. I've got loaaaads of wrk from Monday, so njoi my vellapan while you can
I wish I had more time,
to write a half decent rhyme,
about what a fix,
It is to turn twenty six.
how the world's become smaller,
as i turn larger.
How it is one long nosedive,
on the wrong side of twenty five.
How the ladies who promised to grow old with me,
are busy playing with their babies,
How the women who patted me on my head,
are trying things best left unsaid.
Quite frankly life is the same as before,
Maybe, I'm eating less and sleeping more,
nothing's changed since I was twenty two,
except my waist from 28 to 32.
My imagination is still running all wild,
and ladies still fall for the disarming smile,
The increase in girth balanced by the increase in pay,
My brilliance still shines bright each passing day.
What's changed is passion and a fierce desire,
to surmount all obstacles and rise higher.
I know that success can't just fall into my lap.
Planning for my life is what I do during my afternoon nap.
If anything this poem is for all to see,
that nothings changed, I am still me.
So beware all pretty girls and beautiful chicks,
Pranay Rao's just turned twenty six.
